Wiring Harness/Fuel Pump

Post by Tleg93 »

I'm looking for some advice. My fuel pump wiring is crispy and black. It's been shorting for quite some time. I need to run new wires and install a new pump. The problem is this; the female side that runs into the wiring harness is also burnt and impossible, as far as I can see, to separate from the wiring harness. So it looks to me as if I might have to re-run the entire wiring harness. Something I do not want to do really. I'm a litte skitish about cutting the connectors off because my thought is that the wires could be all melted from getting so hot. I don't want to cannibalize my wires and find out I have to do it again. So what I'm hoping is that someone figured out an alternative. Can anyone help me out?

Well, nobody offered anything but I fixed it. I just spiced in the connectors from my 93. I was going to run the whole wire but it looks like you have to drop the fuel tank to do it that way so I just spliced 'em in and it works fine. I did notice that the wires from the newer connector are thicker and it makes me wonder if that wasn't the root of the problem.

Oh yeah, and I installed the coupler on the TMIC too. That was a bitch with those slant intercoolers.
