sluggish fuel gauge

Post by jefferson »

After filling up with fuel my gauge has started going up very slowly and then never really reaches the full mark. Has anyone run into this before? Are the connections for that under the rear seat? I also ran it really low on fuel this last time and the low fuel light never came on. It's not really a big problem, but it bugs me and I would like to have it work right. Thanks.

Mine has always been slow. But always went up to full. There is a fuel sender cleaner called techron or tectron?? Try it, might just be water in the tank.

The main connector is under the seat, however the access panels for the pump & sender are in the trunk.

I messed around with the damn senders, and ended up replacing them both, as they were causing the gauge to drop, and all around be a pain.

here's info on how to test the low fuel light

Thanks for the info guys. I may pull the back seat and check that light tonight. On second thought I may wait until it cools down outside which could be a long ways off.

I am also thinking about replacing the fuel tank as the bottom of mine has been crushed pretty good. I may not gain a whole lot of capacity, but I tend to push things when it comes to getting all I can out of a tank it would be nice to have every little bit.
