Oil analysis results

Post by jamal »

Last time I changed my oil I thought it would be neat to send in a sample to blackstone labs, and here are the results:

This was longer than I usually go and I was unusually hard on the car in the last few months with all the canyon driving. Anyway, it's nice to know I'm not about to spin a bearing or anything.

Filter is a Purolator PureOne

Oh, and please don't start calling my office phone thanks.

I think it was $22.50 plus $2 to send in the sample. You can request a kit on the website and they'll send you a self addressed container for the oil that you just have to put some stamps on and put in the mail.

I didn't bother blacking stuff you because if someone wanted to find out my full name and e-mail it wouldn't be hard. All it takes is a whois on my domain.

I'm not from Compton I actually live at the beach. That's my work address. We're in a commercial park near Cal State rancho dominguez and the home depot center, but if you put the address in google or whatever it comes up as Compton. It's pretty funny when people ask me where I work.

I've been doing 10k oil changes with Mobil 1 for a few years now.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

A little over a week. They e-mailed me the results in pdf format.

Oh, and this isn't mobil 1, it's the "7500 mile" stuff they sell. I think it's somewhere around 30-50% synthetic and I've been using it for a few years. Before that it was whatever jiffy lube put in (yeah, *gasp* I didn't always change my own oil).
