99 DOHC Heads on a 96 DOHC Block?

Post by kushwa »

Can I put 99 DOHC Heads on a 96 DOHC Block?

Are the heads the same? I know the block was changed from 4 bolts to 8 in later years.

What year HG would I need to use?

Anything else I should be aware of?

The heads are not the same, but the differences are inconsequential. The early heads use HLA's and the later ones use shims over buckets to adjust valve lash. This means nothing for what you want to do.

Rebuild it just like it's stock. Same head gaskets, same everything...
