Post by bepa »

engine started, run a second then died. tried several times and still nothing. checked coil for spark no good. checked over crank and cam sensors as well coil pack and inigition module on center of rear firewall. everything worked in spare SS. JUST DID NOTHING FOR THE SS i use as my daily driver,

check most things but this is getting old fast. needless to say this after working 2 doubles shift's this weekend.

got jump and still the same. checked fuses all okay. still no start. anyone have any ideas I would be gald to try it and let you know how it turned out.
thanks and be well. bepa

Dumb question, but do you have fuel pressure?

It looks like you checked the coil ignitor cam & crank sensors already, but did you swap these parts or just look @ them?.

As for the MAF I believe the car should run in limp-home mode with the MAF unplugged but have never tried this so I can't say for sure.

Sounds like a fuel or spark problem.

okay first thanks for the assistance, here's what I have tried.

BIGGREEN96: I do have a code, had it before it shut down. 3-5
the vacuum lines are all still hooked and okay.
sensor are all plugged in.

ARCTIC ASSASSIN: i have a second SS. it has oil leak from front oil pump seal. but it is a running car. used all pieces from one to other.
switched over cam and crank sensors, igniter, maf and coil pac. did no good.

BXSS: did switch MAF and check feul pressure. some subaru's electric feul pumps and connection problems at the coupling. checked the feul line for pressure. can feel the beating in the gas supply line to fuel rails.

WHAT I did find was a bad battery cable. wnet and got one with install tomorrow. have something to do today.

I am going to switch pieces from the one back to the other and try with the cable installed. if not I may switch ECU's also.

oh yea it does not have any spark. has power to the coil pac also.
any idea are all worth trying.

again thanks for your time. be well, Bepa

I've seen so many random ass problems because of a bad battery cable. If you have a test-light, I recommend following the path of spark, from the plugs back, untill you finally get an electrical signal.
If you can see this link, it will help you so much.

car is running again

Post by bepa »

well with the help of a friend we found 3 items bad.

first he found the 3 wires leading to the crank sensor had the insulation broken off and ground out.

next was the coil pac was leaking voltage out the bottom of same.

and last was that the cam was out of alingnment. corrected these problems and the car started right up.

again thanks for everyones help.

be well and safe quick driving. Bepa
