how strong is my tranny

Post by grantelgie »

hello. . I'm a noob to the forum. .

I am about to pick up a 93 turbo leggy w/190km. . .I have bought it as a winter car for when I store my '06 STi. . it unfortuately is a auto but I have accepted that. .

I have tried searching the forurms to find a tread that say's if people are having problems with the auto and adding power but haven't found much. . I'm looking at some minor and basic mods. . lets face it its my winter beater. . but looking at intake/TMIC/TBE/MBC and thats about it. .

will I be driving a timebomb? if not what is the limit of the auto before I break something. .

if this has been covered sorry for the inconvience and please shoot me in the right direction. .

thanks
grant

Stock auto tranny's are very tough. Should be just fine. To be totally safe people usually say to install a oil cooler. Other then that you should be good to go.

Auto tranny is not bad, us look out for a blown seal between the front diff and the gearbox. If the tranny mixes, you are in for a sticker shock.
Kickin' it old-school.

i think what he is getting at is if the fluid from the tranny and the front diff mix, you'll break the tranny. a tranny swap is always going to be pricy.

Ive got a question for the powers that be, if you don't consider it too off topic. as long as i get the same final drive, will any subaru 4eat swap into our legacy's?
