Hello all, sometimes when I rev my RS Turbo between 3500 and 4500 rpm I hear a ' fluttering' type sound, difficult to explain, but it then goes away and all I hear is a smooth acceleration. Is this normal? Does anyone else know what I am talking about? It happens on smooth acceleration in 3rd gear, not hard acceleration in 2nd gear, i.e I don't have my foot to the floor, I am accelerating smoothly but purposefully. Any ideas, anyone?
Regards,
Ross

ross,
are you still running the std boost solenoid?
If so, it could be the boost solenoid pulsating that you hear.
The std solenoid does pulsate.
Regards, rod.

Rod, thanks for your advice. Where is the boost solenoid? More to the point what is it? What could I do to stop the pulsating?
Thanks
Ross

Ross,
the boost soleniod is situated on the suspension tower in the engine bay (looking at it from in front of the car with the bonnet open). It has a small hose coming into the top which comes from the inlet manifold. A hose going out the bottom to the pressure sensor, (located next to the solenoid). It's job is to open the wastegate at a predetemined pressure. As it gets close to opening it pulsates.
.........maybe it is not the problem.
Mine is diconnected and i use a bleed valve setup so i can run higher boost and also avoid wastegate creep.
I suggest emailing mrt and asking them if this could be the problem. below is the address to ask.
regards, rod.
