Hi all, I have a query re the performance of the water to air intercooler in the RS Liberty. Does anybody know the max boost this intercooler can handle? We know the STi WRX VersionVI air to air cooler is good for 17psi from the factory. How much boost can I safely subject my RS to with the standard cooler? Also, is it possible to increase the efficiency of this cooler, for example, by water spray on the cooler tank or cooler radiator?
Cheers
Ross

Standard RS intercooler performance
The answer is not the intercooler being the restriction, the first
restriction will be your fuel pump, as it can only give around 14psi
pressure, so you will need to upgrade that first if you wish to past
12psi boost. Second the injectors and water spray on the intercooler
will make a great difference. You will easily be able to crank 12-13
psi into that intercooler, just replace the hoses.
Also make sure you get a thermal controlled intercooler sprayer as
the sprayer needs to cool the core prior to boosting, if you try to
cool it during boost it will make hardly any difference.
