ever just do something stupid?

So recirculated my bov -well, my lack there of (running 0 boost and just piped the bpv bung to the re-circ bung on the intake) - and my car started smoking horribly. Smelled like a summer BBQ. No joke. Had more power (though it surged) on 0-2psi then it did before at 8-10!

Looking under the hood I noticed a golden fluid moving from the cylinder head pcv line to the catch can and then back out of the catch can into the IACV.

I asked myself, "Wtf is this shit Charles?"

I pulled the hose and the engine died but what happened next just made my jaw drop; liquid gold at $10 a quart began to drizzle from the catch can hose. Oh yes, it was AMSOIL.

My catch can ran from the IAC into the can and from the intake recirc to the can and then T'd into those lines from the crank case and cylinder head vents. I suppose both lines from the intake created a low pressure zone and kept the set-up from sucking oil in the can and just the vapor. When I removed the line from the recirc on the intake, the IAC created suction and was literally sucking the oil out of the engine and dumping in the intake.

The reason for the gain in power is that I have bad rings. If my theory is correct, the oil being sucked into the intake helped to seal the rings before it was burned off, hence the surging. The same event occurs in compression tests. The oil seals the rings and raises compression.

I rerouted a couple of the lines and put the IAC directly back on the intake and all is well. I lost about 2 quarts of oil though. Time to refill.
