Starting problem

Post by ajcool2 »

Hi I'm new to the forum and own a 1991 Legacy L. I got it from a guy that told me the timing belt needed to be replaced. I took it to mineke and they told me it was the fuel pump so I had it replaced. I went to pick it up and it didnt start again so I watched him work on it and he sprayed intake cleaner inside it and it eventually started. He suggested I take it to the subaru dealer to see exactly wats wrong. We drove it around the whole day and it stalled on us a few times. Today it wouldnt start again so I went to advance autoparts and sprayed intake cleaner into the throttle body and its starting again. Any thoughts on whats causing it not to start?

Spraying cleaner is like an extra shot of fuel.

If you replaced the fuel pump, try the fuel filter.
I like to start with the cheap and easy stuff first.
Yes I have too many Subarus

Have you tried checking the computer for codes?

The instructions are on my site

If I had to guess, I'd say you need to replace your coolant temp sensor.
