WRX-EJ20G Headers

Post by William D. Robinson »

I put EJ20G (WRX) headers on my 92 Legacy Turbo EJ22T and it made no difference at all. I sold my stock headers while still on the car, but when I did the swap, I could see that they were nearly identical except that WRX headers have an O2 sensor bung, while that bung is downstream of the turbo on the EJ22T. The WRX headers provide no performance increase and no bragging rights. Actually, the EJ22T headers and all Subaru factory turbo headers are quite good. I wouldn't waste my money monkeying around with headers. On a turbo car, a free-flowing exhaust makes a much bigger difference than anything you could do with headers

WRX-EJ20G Headers

Bill,

That's kind of interesting you said they were identical. I have a '91 N/A and mine are completely different. Where do you live?

WRX-EJ20G Headers

Post by daniel.wilson@db.co.nz »

Yes the headers are very similar on all the turbo models, the only
draw back with them is they are damn heavy, and the port matching is
bad. I had a set of tuned equal length extractors with matching ports
and man what a difference. But unless you go this rediculous you will
not notice any difference from the standard headers.

TURBO models, are very different.

The turbo ones go between the crossmember and motor where the N/A
ones go under the crossmember.

This is why I don't have the extractors any more, because I needed a
new crossmember at 2am in the morning so had to cut them up. Ouch!!!!

Very expensive lesson (these didn't cost me anything). But I am going
to have to get some made up again.
