Fellow Canadians, I present you with an offer you can't refu

Post by jonesboy@sunwave.net »

Hello all,

I'm sure that most of you are familiar with my '91 turbo sedan. If you're
not, I'd like to direct your attention to http://www.jonesboy.com/subaru/ :)

I've decided to get rid of the beast. I love it, but I can't afford to
have it in the driveway anymore. The truth of the matter is that I'm not
driving it much anymore and this car needs to go to someone who's going to
appreciate it as much as I did. I'm considering a WRX in the
not-so-distant future, as well, of course.

It's got 240k kilometers on the odo, but nothing is older than 45,000km
(and I mean *nothing*, it's all aftermarket/new or rebuilt, every last
bit). It runs perfectly, it's got tonnes of power, I didn't abuse it at
all. I've got every receipt for everything I ever did to it,
modification-wise and maintenance-wise.

I'm asking $12,000 CDN for it. I don't think this is in any way
unreasonable given the investment and condition of the vehicle.

I have mechanic's references for the vehicle, as well as an appraisal at
"at least $18,000". I'd be happy to drive it anywhere to deliver it. It
comes with a spare turbocharger, the stock rims with good all-season tires
for the winter, the 17" rims with good summer rubber on them, etc.

The only reason, I might add, that I said "fellow Canadians..." is that
I've explored the possibility of bringing the car into the US, and
unfortunately Subaru didn't put airbags in the '91s, which were required by
law by the DOT (somehow overlooked?). At any rate, this means that unless
airbags are installed, she can't cross the border and be insured. If you
just want a rally car, on the other hand... :)

At any rate, my phone number is (250)804-4788 if you're interested, or
email me. I've got lots of pictures that aren't on the website, and we can
talk about what's gone into the car and what else comes with it (little
bits I've got lying around that I'd planned to put in, etc).

Thanks.

I know, but by DOT regs, they should have.

They were illegal to import but made it through from some reason.

It's a weird little DOT loophole, and my car can't come across the
border (if it's inspected that is - it does have an airbag wheel though ;) )

My '92 doesn't have an airbag either. I believe it was an option for the US
cars in '92.........

And here we are in the land of the overly regulated. One of the worst
examples of this I have heard of was that Americans are smuggling
toilets across the Canadian border. Seems ours have a small tank to
conserve water but need to be flushed twice and waste water. Our tax
dollars are going for this border inspection and the prosecution of
people caught doing this. Isn't this all a little silly?

A person would have to borrow an airbag for a day or so.

Did they screw up in '92 too? Becuase my Sport Sedan
doesn't have any air bags either. And I belive the
owners manual said it wasn't even an option.

Air bags were first introduced on the driver`s side only in `93-ROD

Sorry, my mistake. It must have been the ABS that was an option in '92?
