headgasket fix
My engine block has a light scratch by a water hole between cylinders where the head mates up. Can i put some high temperature silicone to help fill it in a little before i reattach the head? I'm putting on new head gaskets.

This isn't an authoritative answer, but:
I dunno... I think I'd rather go for a good metal epoxy. I believe J-B Weld even claims right on its package that it's been used to repair engine blocks. You'd have to scrape it very carefully to make sure you don't end up with extra material on the undamaged sealing surface of the block.
Also, I'd hit the gasket with some of that copper gasket spray that Permatex sells. I use it on pretty much every gasket on my car.

Nah, I kept it. I'm getting rid of my truck and moving back to colorado to finish my degree. I should be leaving here in a couple hrs. The car seems to be running good, I ran it for a couple of hours last night going to different bars...I think it will make the trip back. I even got 4 aces on the video poker last night so my luck is getting better

Slightly different, but my buddy makes homemade peripherally ported rotor housings (Rotary engine) & uses a j-b weld like stick epoxy (2 part clay-like substance) to seal the newly created intake ports from the waterjackets he just drilled through with very good results.
He uses the same epoxy to seal the factory side intake ports.
We have run 35psi of boost in these motors, no problems with coolant in the c-chamber or air getting into the coolant system.
A little scratch should be no problem provided you smooth everything down as stated above.

I stuck some silicone on it before anyone responded. I'm back in colorado and had no problems except I forgot to stick a thermostat in the car. It was sooo freaking cold driving last night I stopped and picked up a piece of cardboard to block airflow to the radiator so the car would stay a normal temperature. However there were no overheating problems.
