ALK alignment setting?

Post by b.lam@usa.net »

Hi everyone, I will install the ALK to my 92 Legacy turbo along with
the 205-55-15 RE-730. I did check out the alignment from Whiteline
and it looks little different from the Chilton's book. I just
installed the AGX shocks and stock springs and thats all my
suspension mod.
The Whiteline listed the setting as follow:

Camber Caster Toe
Front
Touring -1.00 Max 0.0
Sport -1.50 Max 0.0
Race -2.0 to -3.0 Max 0.0

Rear
Touring -0.75 n/a 1mm out
Sport -1.00 to -1.25 n/a 1-2mm out
Race -1.5 to -2.5 n/a 0-2mm out

But after I checked the Chilton's book, the maximum camber of our car
just has 0.75 to 0.25 camber and the preferred setting in the camber
is -.25! Also what is the Max Caster???
I'm sure I will use the car for daily drive and TSD rally sometime
maybe 3 times a month!!!
Could anyone has a good alignment setting and plseas list out!!
Mark, whats your alignment setting????

ALK alignment setting?

Post by Sam & Beth Barrett »

Subie gal runs with maximum negitive camber when she rallys (she also said
it drives like crap on the road when it's set that way).

I'll dig around in the manuals and tell you what the stock settings are
s'posed to be later today...

ALK alignment setting?

Depends what you are after, very conflicting info around the place.
My specs are at prodrive settings, for street or racing. Not many
cars can keep up with my car on the street or race track, and the
tire wear is very even on my car, but this will change for most
people because of the roads in NZ have lots of bends so always going
hard around the corners, plus I travel 100km per day.

Please read below for recomendations from different performance shops.

Alignment specs for Subaru

Here is some information regarding alignment specs, that I found on
the net.

Listed below are different tuners alignment recommendations. Rear
camber is non-adjustable from the factory, which is why its not
listed for most.

To fix this problem pick up some front camber bolts from a wrecker
and use them in the rear to adjust the rear camber.

Cobb Tuning
Front: Camber: -1.00 deg
Toe: 0 deg ( more toe out for autox but less directional stability)
Rear: Toe: 0.3 deg in (tailhappy otherwise)

Nativo
Front: Camber: MAX (-1.5 deg)
Toe: 1/8" out
Rear: Toe: 1/8" in

Prodrive
Front: Camber: MAX
Toe: 0
Rear: Camber: -1.00 deg
Toe: 1mm in

Rally Spec
Front: Camber -0.75 deg (or more for autox)
Toe: 0 (or 1/8" out for autox but less direcional stability)
Rear: Toe: 3/32" out

SPD Tuning
Front: Camber: -0.75 deg
Toe: 1/16" out
Rear: Toe: 0
Superstring
Front: Camber: -0.8 deg
Toe: 0.07" out
Rear: Camber -0.2 deg
Toe: 0.07" in
Scooby South
street tuned ( race tuned -with camber plates)
Front: Camber: -1.35 deg ( -2.75 deg)
Toe: 1/16" out (3/16" -automatically set by increasing camber)
Rear: Camber: -0.50 deg (-1.25 deg )
Toe: 0 (1/16" out )
Other
Front: Camber: MAX
Toe: 1/16" out
Rear: Toe: 1/16" in

Whiteline
"I would strongly argue against rear toe-in. We, in fact, recommend a
small amount of toe-out for better response or toe neutral at worst."
touring tuned (sport tuned) [race tuned]
Front: Camber: -1.00 deg ( -1.50 deg) [-2.0 to -3.0 deg]
Toe: 0
Rear: Camber: -0.75 deg ( -1.00 to -1.25 deg) [-1.5 to -2.5 deg]
Toe: 1mm out ( 1-2mm out) [0-2mm out]
