who here has replaced their turbo with a larger WRX turbo? whats the difference, how hard was the bolt up, and will the intercooler of the same year fit on without any abnormal modifiactions???

i have a line on some older WRX ICs and turbos and was wondering whats worth the trouble and what i should stay away from...

thanks gents!

turbos and intercoolers

If you want easy, stay away from the '96 and newer models. Much work is
required to make the intercooler work, cutting-relocating-welding-etc. The
turbo needs inlet mods and reclocking.

Every Subaru turbocharger I have ever seen bolts right up to a stock USA Legacy up-pipe, but the angle is a bit different for the down-pipe. It would be a great time to build a custom down-pipe. I sell the flanges ($25.00 US shipped anywhere in US/Canada) that allow you to weld straight into standard 3" mandrel bent tubing available from JC Whitney.
