Aluminum ps and alt pulley help

Post by jefferson »

I am wanting to get a set of lightweight aluminum pulleys for my ps pump and alt. I have hit a brick wall everywhere I turn.

Does anyone know where I can get these items and part numbers if possible?

It does appear I can come up with an alt pulley that will need some machining to fit, but I would like to avoid that if I can. The ps pulley I have totally come up empty.

Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Thanks guys,

I think I am still out of luck. My car has a 17 spline shaft on the ps pump and nobody seems to make anything for it. I may have to see if a later year pump will fit on my car so I can get a pulley for that My luck then the newer pump won't fit on the older car.

Yeh to me it is. The improvement I got out of just the crank pulley was pretty impressive so I figured a little more wouldn't hurt. They look so much better also. I really enjoy removing weight if it doesnt affect the funtionality. I found a ti exhaust for $300 that I think I will be able to make work. I can't wait. Less weight, better sound, and more horsepower.

I don't quite follow you. The ones I posted will work if you have a stock power steering pump. I'm running these pullies right now on my legacy.

I never heard back from them. I just assumed that it would be the same story with them. Do you have the 17 spline shaft on your pump?

I don't know.....all subaru power steering pump shafts should be the same to my knowledge.

I've used these pullies on my legacy & 97 impreza.

I went with the Subaru planet pulleys and am really happy about them.
The stock pulleys weigh 1.17 lbs. and the new ones are .60 lb. I do wish there was more of the shaft sticking through on the alt. pulley. The nut only has about half the threads to use.

Suabaru planet is the only one who has pulleys for our early ps pumps with the 17 tooth shaft. Good prices too.

GFB emailed me 3 photos of different pulleys for the newer shafts so that makes at least 4 different shafts that are used.

Thanks for the info Josh
