91 sport sedan suspension

Post by Nissan 240sx »

Im trying to find a new suspension setup. I have a
1991 Subaru legacy sport sedan. I was looking for an
adjustable strut but I can only find those for 92+
models. Does anyone know of any 1991 adjustable? Or am
I pretty much stuck with the KYB GR2? Does anyone have
anything to say about the GR2? Is there anything else
out there comparable to the GR2s? Does anyone know of
where I can get it at a good price? Thanks.

John

91 sport sedan suspension

The GR2's are good struts. I have them on my 90. If you want to put some money into your suspension. You can get a set of coil overs from TRI tuning, which are adjustable, spring rate and I believe valving. Dave C has them on his Legacy touring wagon. Email him for details. TRI's website is www.trituning.com

91 sport sedan suspension

IIRC, the rear setup on the 90 and 91 is different from the 92-99
versions, and this makes it very hard to get anything but the GR2 to
work.

Honestly, i can't say what the difference is, as i've only replaced
them on my own 90 (before i sold it).

Coilovers are expensive, minnimum of about $1200 for the set, and i'm
still pretty sure they wouldn't work.

Can anyone add to this?

i have a 91 and the differences that i have noted so far is... a 19mm sway bar and the way it connects to the rest of the suspension. the rest seems to be pretty much the same.

91 sport sedan suspension

Post by INCEv@webtv.net »

GR-2 are really good I have these on my 92 Touring Wagon! After I got
them on the car I decided that coilovers would be better.I contacted
Ground Control.com They have 2.5 inch coilovers that fit right over your
shocks. All you need to get a good fit is the exact size of the biggest
shock tube(some were different). I paid $450.00 for the kit, that had
all the parts to put it in(you will have to grind the top flat part of
the shock so the coilovers will slip over). I hope this helps. Dan
