Yesterday I discovered that I am going to be a guest of Prodrive (Subaru factory rally team) at the Wild West Rally in Shelton WA. I get free lodging, van shuttles around the stages, banquets, parties and more. This is quite amusing to me, as I am persona non grata at my local Subaru dealer. They declined to work on my car because it has a few performance modifications. If I bump into the Lithia-Camp Subaru service manager at the rally, I'll make him kneel and cup his hands while I pee into them.

Actually, I did nothing car-related to deserve this. Well, not exactly. This all can be traced to the fact that thirty years ago I knocked up a girl in the back seat of my 56 Volkswagen Bug. My 29 year son (product of aforementioned encounter) Joel ( turbocharged 98 RS) works on race car games for the Microsoft XBox. Subaru is courting favors with Microsoft and my son pulled me aboard for a weekend of VIP treatment. I am so excited I'm borderline incontinent. The only downside is that I am probably too damn fat to wedge my ass into the codrivers seat for my complimentary ride in a Prodrive car. I have two weeks to lose 50 lbs. Maybe if I shoot up laxatives.... Don't worry, I won't let this go to my head so badly that I forget the little people, I'll be sure to pocket a few hors d'oeurves and drop them by the Motel 6 for you. Here's an etiquette question....Should I stick with the first hooker they give me or is it okay to sample a few of them?

If you think you can stand me, I can be reached at the rally at (509) 251-2503

Humbly yours

Hello Bill,

Even though I've never met you, I already hate you for getting that
Prodive seat. Yes ... just a touch of jealousy, that's all =).

As far as etiquite goes, I'd stick with the first one they give you.
After all you don't want to offend your hosts. Who knows, you may
have another chance .... if you play your cards right ...
Of getting another ride I mean. ... in the car .... ... in the
Prodrive rally car.

Mr. Bill-I`ve read your posts for the last year & have enjoyed your commentary. My wife & I will be moving back to northern Cal. early next year & will be visiting a good friend that resides in Seattle. Hopefully, we can combine this trip with an event that all you` rain-heads` can attend so I can meet everyone I`ve talked to. I`ll be attending the Prescott Forest Rally this Oct. + the SEMA show in `Vegas with about 50 of my closest friends from AzScooby in Phoenix. I have`nt been to that show since 1979 when I attended as an employee of Clifford Research in SoCal (we specialized in 4 & 6 cyl. performance). BTW, how old are you again? My wife thinks I`m in my 3rd childhood @ 56 yrs.old by going crazy with an older (`92) car & now putting a turbo in along with all new suspension in addition to all the other upgrades I`ve done. I need to hear from you so I can salvage some of her lost sanity due to my obsession; she does`nt believe that any other `mature` person would do what we`ve done to our cars. I also need to hear from anyone else that`s close to my age so she can see there are `nutters` all over the globe. Also, I understand your dilemna at the Subie dealer + other automotive shops who don`t understand what we are doing or have done to these great cars. My dealer in Scottsdale is a little offset when my car comes in but I mainly have them do timing belts & fluid exchanges only as I get tired of answering all the questions concerning my modifications. Fortunately, I have a couple of local friends who are just as crazy as I am, have alot more talent/knowledge than I & have shown her that I`m not alone. I just need as many as possible to confirm this as `if momma ain`t happy, ain`t no one happy!` Good luck on your `pro-drive` & yes, it IS worth weight loss to go slidin` with the best! Have fun---ROD

50 attendees from AZ to the 4th annual meet? Geez, we didn't have
that many TOTAL last year!

I'm just one of those late twenty-something guys who likes to be a
non-conformist.

Every man must have something to build that he can have control of.
