Oil on spark plug boots (Baja)

Post by Mr.Pessimist »

I changed the spark plugs yesterday in my Baja and when I pulled the boots out I noticed a fair amount of oil around the top off the boot at the valve cover. This was only at one valve cover and not on the other. The oil would drain down the boot to where the spark plugs seat in the head.

Bad valve cover gasket??

Keep in mind that the spark plug boots go through the valve covers on the EJ25s

yeah, you need to do replace the v/c gaskets and the spark plug tube seals. the spark plug tube seals wear out really fast on the phase 2 2.5's. i cant even count how many v/c gasket/spark plug tube seal jobs i've done on those motors.... good thing they're relatively simple.

Oh that's great...

I just changed the oil with Amsoil synthetic (expensive) a little over a month ago.

Thanks for the info.
