Thanks Rod,
I'm pretty sure I've NOW found the part that you are talking about!! That is
definitely not the part I replace and would explain why my engine light is
still on. Now I have one question for you. How the hell do you change the
Purge Solenoid Valve?????? "It's a bitch to get to" is an understatement!! I
don't know where to start!

Fred,
it sounds like you have changed the auxillary purge control valve.
Yhe purge control solenoid valve has a vacuum hose going to and from with an
electrical connection. It sits underneath the inlet manifold (left side
looking at the engine from the front of the car)
Follow the line from the charcoal canister, one goes to the aux purge valve,
one from the fuel tank and the third goes to the solenoid purge valve.
cheers, Rod ....in OZ
ps its a bitch to get to......

I replaced mine right when I bought the car and I gave up on the
reinstallation of it. Currently it hangs loose in the approximate location I
removed it from. No problems with it yet.

Need help
I recently did it, and it wasn't too bad
There's only one screw holding it in. I got to it with a ¼ drive 12mm
deep socket with a 6" extension. You just pop off the electrical
connector and the two vacuum lines (remember which goes where).
When you put on the new one be careful to not loose the screw (I like
finger tightening first to make sure I don't strip anything).
Oh yeah, you probably want to do it when the engine is really cold,
otherwise you'll hand will get mad at you.
