I am sure some of you remember the Touring Wagon in Omaha Nebraska
that wanted to hesitate when asked to accelerate. Once per month then
once per week then once a month again.
The good news is it is fixed. The bad news is that it was a replaced
engine that fixed it. The pulley on the end of the drive shaft had
wobbled loose and ruined the end of the drive shaft. Apparently it
would wobble infrequently cause the problem and then staighten out.
The new problem I am concerned about is that when I start it in the
morning and put it in reverse to back out of the garage it will not
shift into reverse immediatley unless I let it idle for a few seconds
first. If it idles for more than 10-15 seconds it will pop right into
reverse. This is an automatic transmission.
I added some fluid today. Will see if it is better in the morning.
Let me know if this sounds like a familiar problem to any of you.
Thanks,
Carl

Hesitating problem gone!!!!!
Watch your fluid level on the 4EAT carefully; they hate to be even a little bit low on fluid. It`s quite possible that when the engine was pulled, that the trans cooler lines leaked fluid & the level was never brought up to snuff. I`ve found that checking the fluid hot is the best for an accurate reading. Make sure you MANUALLY run the tranny through ALL gears first before checking the level. If it shifts OK after it`s full of fluid, you`re probably alright. Suggestion: get an underdrive or standard size machined pulley from Unorthodox Racing; it`ll save you alot of grief in the future. They`re very light & strong + I`ve never heard of anyone having a problem with one-(cheaper than replacing a crank/engine, too!) If I had it to do over again, I`d get the standard size as the stock belt sizes will fit. Hope this helps---ROD (AZ.)

Hesitating problem gone!!!!!
Mine sorta does that occasionally when shifting in reverse. It doesn't always do it, but sometimes. I would do like rod says, check fluid. The autos are VERY picky on bein too low or high on fluid.

Hesitating problem gone!!!!!
I had a similar problem with my auto, the problem is with the reverse
switch. You will notice next time it happens the park light will not
show on the dash, if you push the gear selector forward first
(towards the sterio), you will hear a click and you will be able to
select reverse straight away. A common cause of this problem is the
soft drink holder position, soft drinks leak into the auto selector.
