Possible / Impossible?
I can get a 90 Legacy shell (no motor or transmission) with cage / rally prep etc and an '07 WRX motor / transmission / wiring loom (complete) and want to know what the level of difficulty is to put these two together.
Thanks,
Jim

You have ALL the wiring, sensors? Can you get a 05-07 dash to? Anything can work just take time especially in your circumstance if you are swapping all electronics. Those cars had a immobilizer to I believe.

If doing a complete swap its relatively easy. I just installed an 05 STI into a 98 RS.
For the most part the engine to ECU harness is easily separated from the accessories. You will end up with a chunk of wires that can be matched up to whatever car harness you are using. The ECU likes to have inputs from some odd places like the air conditioner or vehicle speed sensor but those are easily spliced in.

Thanks for the help so far
I will tell you how it goes.
I think that I only have 45 days to sort this out as I am importing this car into Canada
If it is only a matter of separating the two systems, it will not be so bad.
I doubt there is an air conditioner, given its race car status
I will probably have to cobble something up or accept the CEL.
Given its age, they will not plug into the OBD2 but probably only do a general check.

BTW it is a good idea to stick with the 07 WRX ECU since you can reprogram it to suit your needs. For the most part there is no reason for aftermarket computers in Subarus anymore.
I suggest saving the complete legacy harness.
Take the two harnes and lay them next to each other. Remove the ECU portion of the legacy harness and the same for the WRX. Then graft the Legacy parts left over from the ecuectomy onto the WRX core harness.
Does that make sense?
