i had complete gasket kit at 260k miles after the right side head gasket would not hold blew. the head and cylinders were very surprisingly clean, looked like a motor with less than half its mileage

i just wish there was somewhere i could send my oil to be analyzed, but i dont think there is anyone that does that. oh, if only such a place exsisted....

A few different places sell them but I think I got some from http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/

I probably woudln't use the nipple version on a Subaru unless there is no chance of going off road.

I agree with you, it's at least worth sending your oil off to see how its contamination level.

As of May 2007 Subaru says "All turbocharged models are considered to be operated under severe driving conditions and require the oil interval of 3,750 miles or 3.75 months."

So the 3k oil change is even too much for a track driven STI :)
