I have a N/A block that i smoked the pistons on, had it honed and got forged internals. Basically i have orig. N/A block with EJ22T internals... but now i have a problem... im burning water and i have a leaking main seal. i believe that the main seal is because of that port that i plugged and i dont have a catch can or anything rigged up. im trying to fab one up at work but i need to figure out the pcv system and get hose sizes. Main question is, what that port is, and should it be ran to my catch can...?
Pretty sure that would go into the oil area, ie oil return.
I can check an NA head tommorrow.

yea well i thought the same thing.. that port was my braided -4 line going to my turbo feed.. when i let the car idle for like 3 mins and noticed no oil pouring out the turbo dump.. i pulled the line and started the car... no oil, just hot exhaust gasses
Its too high to pour oil out, ie, thats where the oil would return.
But since its part of the internal engine area, you are getting some "blowby".

OK, just checked. The "hole" is there, but it appears to be "cast" plugged. As if the hole is there if needed to be tapped, but never was.

It's the EGR. Not all Ej22's got it. It's one of those CA spec things. Oftentimes we plug them here in Colorado when we're doing something where it gets in the way or we're working with a non-EGR intake manifold.

thx guys.. im trying to determine how many ports my catch can will need...
also... what do you guys use for sealant when resealing the block after a rebuild... im leaking out the rear main, and also burning water... im guessing head gasket is gone, but they are brand new so i think its a water jacket leaking inside the block...
Matt is correct. That spot is indeed for the EGR hard line which would feed up to the intake manifold. All EJ25D blocks have them & some EJ22E blocks have them. All it does is lower emissions output by recycling portions of exhaust gas back into the intake to be reburnt. It tends to raise intake temps as a result of the hot fumes being sent from the engine block. Many people block them off to shoot for an extra 1 hp if that.
