I can't locate springs for my 91 SS
I've only been able to find 3 manufacturers that sell aftermarket springs for 91 legacy turbo sedans.
H&R, Intrax and Whiteline
H&R is backordered everywhere I've found them. I'm not sure about Intrax and Whiteline discontinued their rear springs for this car.
Where can I buy performance springs for a 91 SS to go with my brand new KYB GR2s? My poor car is sitting up on jackstands for the past 2 weeks.

I tried using 03 wrx struts and springs but I they needed the tophats from a 92-94 so I got those and now they need a spacer/washer and I checked ace hardware, valley nut and bolt and autozone and they all carry the same sized washers and they're not thick enough.

But will I need spacers for the rears? The WRX suspension I got needed spacers and I would have to have them machined and that would cost money and I'd rather spend the money on new springs made for this car.
If I don't need the spacers I would go for it. Do they lower the car?

OK well I'm pretty sure I can use 04-07 STI springs on my car. They're pretty cheap used or I found several brands of aftermarket lowering springs for STIs.
Will these work? Cobb Tuning WRX STI Sport Lowering Springs
I think they're for 04-07 STI
http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/co ... -2023.html
$266 shipped
That's $1 more than the H&R springs I tried to buy for my legacy.
Lowers an STI 2" front and 1.5" rear. Not sure what that means for a 91 legacy...

I vaguely recall something about WRX springs raising our cars like 1/2 inch... I know the preface cars (90-91) have lower spring perches so putting newer Legacy springs on them would lift them 1"
This would translate to about 1" drop front .5 inch drop rear on your car with these springs on your struts *** IF I HAVE EVERYTHING CORRECT ***

Whiteline Control springs on KYB GR2 struts Lowered his Preface legacy 1.5" front. 1" rear.

stock 04-07 wrx springs will lower a 90-91. sti spring will lower it slightly more. sti lowering springs will lower it way way way too far.
The wrx springs do not require spacers in the rear. The whole reason for spacers is to match up the top hat to the strut. For the springs you just need the right top to fit the upper diameter. Your stock upper tops in the rear will work with 04-07 springs, and in the front you need new perches. I think this is all explained quite clearly in a stickied thread somewhere.

I know what the spacers were for. Somebody told me to go get 92-94 top hats for the rear and the WRX springs would work. They fit the springs but there was a gap betweeen the nut and the top hat when the nut was tightened down all the way.
Which top hats do you have to have to fit without a spacer on 02-03 wrx struts/springs?

There is a sticky and I've read it several times but it still isn't telling me everything.
First off it's not listing 05,06,07,08 sti springs and it doesn't tell you how much lower your car will be with sti springs of any year.
It does mention that you will need need different spring perches for the front. Are spring perches the part that sits directly on the top of the spring under the strut mount place or top hat? It doesn't mention WHICH spring perches you need so that doesn't help very much.

in the rear your stock tops and stock fitment struts will work with the 04-07 impreza springs..
In the front stock struts and 04-07 impreza front perches, (the metal part that goes under the top hat) will work with the 04-07 springs. it seems to lower it about an inch evenly on wrx parts.
If you did 90-91 GR2s and 04-07 sti springs and front perches it should work pretty well.
The other way is to replace everything with parts from a 93-01 Impreza. That gives you many more options. You can get KYB AGX or I think Tokico D-spec struts, which are both pretty decent upgrades.

I see, so does it matter which year impreza for the front perches? Or which model impreza, wrx, sti?

I can't remember from when I had my front struts out. Do the 90-91 front struts have one piece strut mount/perches? The rears were one piece.

Are all the front perches from a 04-07 sti the same?
