Door lock broke,options?
So,yeah, what can I do here,is it possible to buy a oem replacement or do I have to find a donor car and then have two different keys or what?
Umm....can you be a little more descriptive as to what exactly the problem is?
Does the lock cylinder just spin all around when you put the key in?
If so you can buy a new lock cylinder from the dealer and take it along with your current key to a locksmith to have it rekeyed. If you have a key that is not too badly worn down, that would be best. If you still have the original key that came with the car it will have the key code on it. You can have the dealer cut you a new key based on that key code.

Not all the times. Some dealers especially from the 90 & 91 MY's didn't input the key code into the system Subaru uses to keep tabs on everything. The dealer that had my car did not input this information, however like I mentioned I still had the original keys with the key code stamped in it.BSOD2600 wrote:They can also cut one from your VIN -- at least it worked with my 94 TW at the dealer.Legacy777 wrote:You can have the dealer cut you a new key based on that key code.

You can get replacement cylinders w/ keys at an auto parts store, if you can't find a donor car.
You can either, A) Use that new cylinder you bought, and swap everything from your old cylinder into it, or B) bring it to a locksmith and have him re-key the new cylinder to your current keys. Just be sure to have both the new and old cylinder with you.
