How many subaru coil pack types are there?
Okay, there's the ones on our gen 1 stuff, then there's the kind on my brother's 98 leg which has a more the squareish look and the plug just plugs directly in to the coil pack with no pigtail coming off the pack itself.. is there a third design... or more even?
My parts motor (97 leg GT) has the same type as all my gen1's had, but my bro's 98 leg L has the newer style. It looks quite similar to the one on my 02 legacy.
Will the one off my 02 leg work on my bro's 98 leg? (this is the main question)
Anyone know?
Does 2.2 vs 2.5 make a difference?
I don't have either car handy right now to double check the wire clips.

The type your bother has has the ignitor built in to the coil pack. Our ignitor is a seperate module on the firewall.
Sorry, but can't say for certain if the '02 will work in the '98. Both should be the kind with the built in ignitor.
