ACT = crap crap crap for subarus.

Group N street disc available from the dealer is good (email
rsbuckner@royalmoore.com to get one) and fairly well priced.

Centerforce Dual Friction setup very good (expensive tho).

I'll agree with ya there. I went all out and got the dual friction.
I love it! So strong that it may be the reason my tranny has lost
3rd!? Could have been the little mudhole i brought it through
too..but there is no visible damage to the car...so it wierd! Anyway
the centerfoce is my vote...it really wasnt that expensive either...i
think the parts were gonna be 400 for the group N subie ones, and
these ended up being like 650 or so. It seems worth it to me though.
Now if I could find an elequent way to get 3rd back! I dont want to
part with this car! But the rareness of parts is beginning to piss
me off!

Which clutch to choose??

Well, my BC5 EJ20T engine will come over at the end of next month and
I am thinking its time to do the clutch since the engine is going to
swap so I could ask the shop to do the replace free of charge if I
going to supply the clutch!
What kind or brand clutch is the best for the turbo Legacy? I did
replaced my clutch since 100000km in dealer and I use the Subaru
factory clutch. Now since the engine being upgrade and hope to get
better clutch for power transfer to all wheele, whats your choice??

Also what should I have to careful or take care when they going to
replace, do I have to take a look on the flywheele or re-surface it??

Thanks for all info!!
Ben

I am not sure on aftermarket clutches for the Turbo models but I do
know that the factory does not reommend resurfacing flywheels on the
standard clutch or the turbo with good reason. When the flywheel is
resurfaced it moves the clutch assy. towards the engine, this alters
the geometry of the clutch linkage and this is critical on Subarus
because of the short distance for the mechanism to operate in and when
the flywheel is resurfaced you probably will have difficulty
disengaging the clutch

I just got some parts from Richard Buckner yesterday:

806212020: Ball Bearing
30100aa630: Disp Clutch - Group N
30210aa381: Cover Clutch - WRX Pressure Plate (non-us?)
30502aa100: Radial Ball Bearing

These are all Subaru Parts, purchased through Richard. They're
cheaper than the dealer, but a bit more than some online resellers.
This Pressure Plate is what Paul Eklund uses on his rally car,
running strong after two years still. The disc should be enough for
300hp+.

Can't wait to put it in, with my Exedy flywheel.

I got the flywheel from a private party, but it's available from
SubySports to the tune of about $550. It's chrome-moly, so it wears
like granite, and it's as light as it needs to be, probably 12-
13lbs. It's a beauty.

Fidanza makes some very nice ones, JUN and Unorthodox also make them,
as well as others. Avoid aluminum ones, they tend to wear quickly
and aren't resurfaceable. Those aluminum ones that have steel
inserts, well, might sound cool, but why not just get chrome-moly in
the first place?
