Silly redline, nuts to you!

Post by legacycentral »

So i've got more boost now, hooked up my AVC-R, and the car is now a
bonafide rocket. Geez this is fun, but i'm encountering a strange
problem that i noticed on the AT.

6250 is about all i can get outta this thing. Now the redline looks
to me as if it should be 6500, it's smack dab between 6000 and 7000.

What gives? Do i have to snip the magic wire Al was talking about to
tell it to give me my extra RPMs, now that i want to manage gear
ratios all by myself?

I could possibly even hit 60 in 2nd...tasty.

Dave

Is it redlinin at 6250 now? Or did it do that before with the auto.
Redline should be 6500 regardless of auto or 5spd.

It could however be not getting input from what it thinks is the tranny, ie
that wire that Al was talkin about. So it's limiting rpm. I guess you
could go ahead and snip it and see what happens.....just leave enough slack
so you can splice it back if need be. If you have a subie that is a 5spd
and you could check that ecu and see if the wire is there or not would
confirm things about that wire.....

sounds sorta weird.....but that's my suggestion.... :)

The auto is rev limited to 6250, sorry to say. The manual isn't
revlimited until about 8000 though, so... *rubs hands together*

I think the automagic transmission would explode into lots of fun
little pieces if you fed it too many revs though.
