The assorted model and serial numbers on the ECU from my 93 automatic parts car are as follows:
Hitachi
(on big tag printed)
22611 AA694
MECF-M61
A1
M8
(on big tag stamped in)
2903
(on thin strip tag)
MECF-M61 A1 02400
The ecu that came with my 92 5speed sedan is the same except that instead of the stamped 2903 it has a printed 2402 on the big tag and instead of the 02400 on the little strip tag is has 01494.
I hope this helps

Thanks Bill, as far as I know, the "22611" I think its for Subaru
only, since I check all the Subaru ECU and the first 5 number are the
same as "22611" then the "AA" I think it states for Legacy. Since
Impreza WRX has "AC" in openning, and the # of the rest is the model
of the ECU , I think!!!

ECU serial numbers
OK, But does anyone here know the part numbers for the Non North american
ECU's. There is a ton of members not from North America here, Can anyone
help? Daniel??
Mark
Sorry, I was away all day yesterday and today, the Subaru is in a motorsport
show this weekend here in Vancouver. Had a good talk with a Japanese guy who
has a non-turbo legacy. He happens to be an importer (general goods) from
Japan who has helped bring a cut STI imprezza into Vancouver. It is in the
process of going into another shell.

ECU serial numbers
This is LONG! Ok This is what I know. The part number for the '94
Legacy turbo ECU is 22611AA694, I have one in my hand, one on the
bench for repair and one in my car. All of the following may be true
or not but I will do my best.I beleive the four digit number is a
serial number of sorts but it is not listed in any service information
I am aware of. Most of the 2 litre engines I have been involved with
were the EJ20G model or European Legacy engines rated at 208hp at
7000rpm 14lbs boost. I was in on a conversation between some people
who were importing these engines that didn't know that I spoke German
and what I got out of that was that is was forbidden to import the
ECU's because of emmission laws. I think that this was probably just
an excuse but I have never seen a non-US ECU to this day. I am now
installing a 2.0 litre engine that is a WRX engine of some sort and I
still do not have the proper ECU but I should have it running very
soon anyway and will report back on what I find.
