I tried to install an STI shifter last night, but i found out that it
doesn't fit.
My tranny is from a 91 Legacy Turbo, and the shifter assembly
has a T-shaped end that connects to a C-shaped part on the
tranny. This seems to be the exact opposite of the shifters i've
seen, both STi and SYMS.
What i'd like to know is if this is the same on all Legacy Turbos,
and on all non-turbo 5MTs.
If you've been under the car, have any pics, remember for sure,
or whatever, please let me know. I would like to replace this
setup...

Yeah, Id like to know too, do the shifter assembly's differ between
the 91 and the 92 turbo legacy?
or are they the same?

I talked to Jason, and based on a picture at SubaruParts.com,
we think i might be missing a piece that attaches to the end,
then to the transmission. This would make everything work.
I have to go look in the box again later, it sure looked empty to
me...

I think you are on the right track if I remember correctly when I
installed the STI shifter on my '99 GT tranny I had to go to a yard to
get one small piece that connected things together. Here's something
to add while you are down there. The large Bushing that fits into the
shifter linkage to mount it is avaiable in a harder or stiffer
version. I will try and check on where we got them. (this will also
improve the standard shifter)

I know that Challenger Deep http://www.challengerdeep.com/ has Cusco
and Aqua shift link bushings. I thought I saw one other site that
had Sti and other makers for bushings, but I can't seem to find it,
will post it if I do. john
