It's only correct when the car is topped off with gas. As soon as a little has been used, the needle goes all over, usually dropping to negative as a lot of throttle is applied. Most of the time the needle just lays there at negative.
I don't know where to begin fixing it. I don't actually know how the gas gauge works, lol.
I'm a little tired of keeping track of mileage and guessing how much further i can go.
Fuel gauge is broken.

If that doesn't work, you will need to replace one or both of the fuel senders. After the issues I went through, I'd suggest replacing both. Here's some more info and pictures.
