So i pulled a new engine from a parts car my buddy sold me to replace the seized junk in my project car.Tonight in the process of removing the driver side head i noticed that all the head bolts were slightly out of round .Upon removing the head i found not only egg shaped head gasket openings but ovaled out head bolt holes in the block and new valve reliefes that should not be there .I knew that the car had been in an accident years prior but did not realize just how hard the thing was hit. This engine experienced the driver side head being pushed back a good 3/16" of an inch while running, proof being that where the valves hit the pistons is about that far from the valve reliefs. The holes for the head bolts are not only ovaled but it also caused bulges in the deck surface as well.I have never seen this kind of hidden carnage and i cannot believe that this engine was used for so long afterwards in this condition .Anyways im just venting about how i have to find another turbo motor
Well he gave me another engine yesterday.Took the heads off and voila, cylinders filled with ice (water when you live somewhere that doesnt suck) and oil sludge.Great now i have one seized engine, one that is basically bent and one with rust scale in the cylinders .
So now onto taking my good crank and rods and having the original block bored out for some 20 over wiseco's.Should have just done this in the first place. At least now i have 3 motors worth of parts
