Rear Defrost/power mirrors

Post by Tommio RS »

Ok. I bought my car 2 years ago and have never had rear defrost! I live in canada where there be winter!

So here is whats wrong with the rear defrost. The dash light lights right up no problem, but the glass never melts ice! The only place that can melt snow/ice kinda is the extreme outside of the windows and im not meaning the inside of the window i mean the outside of it! Aswell i tryed to remove the rear mini window plastic trim....You cant! its never impossiable! What do you need to do to remove the rear mini window trim plastic? Back seat? speaker covers? Im kinda at a loss here because you need to remove them trim panels to access the rear defrost cord that plugs into the window...

Aswell. My power mirrors/cig lighter have never worked. I put in a new fuse and it blows instantly! yes i know there is a dead short some where but i sure cant really see the problem. Its a rats nest up under the dash.

If you can make sense of it shot me a answer

Thanks!

as for the rear defrost, those little lines that go across you window are most likely damaged thats why you have no defrost.

as for the short, ya wiring problems are some times the hardest things to track down, I'd start by unhooking the back of the cigarette lighter and put a fuse in, if it doesn't blow the problems in the cigarette lighter circuit, if it does its in the power mirrors circuit.

The rear defoster you can buy a repair kit and 'repaint' the broken lines. An ohm meter helps to find the broken spots in each line.

well i have in spected the lines very very much, and i cant seem to find anybreaks? I think i could be the connector into the element itself. But i have no ideal where that is? i think its behind the rear plastic trim.
