HELP!engine code 35 but already replaced CPC,failed emission

Post by cryo »

I have a question and cant seem to find any additional info on it. I bought a 94 legacy lsi and it wont pass emissions. It had code 31,32, and 35 but I replaced the 02 sensor and it got rid of 31 and 32. I then replaced the canister purge solenoid valve *cpc* and it seems to have done nothing, I have tried to clear the codes, but when I am in test mode and clear mode it still flashes code 35. just hoping there is a common next step if this doesnt fix it. I failed CO's at 48.88 and the limit is 15. I also failed HC's by a little at 1.3 and the pass limit is 1.2. any info is greatly appreciated.

btw I am in colorado and subies seem to have no problem passing here most the time.

Welcome to the board Dave.

Have you tried the active test mode with only the green connectors connected? If so, do you get the all clear blinking before you start the car?

For some reason code 35 can be stubborn at times.

If it still doesn't work, I'd check the wiring from the ECU to the CPC solenoid.

That code should only get recorded if there is an electrical fault in the circuit or valve so I'd have to agree that you should check the continuity of the wires all the way to the ecu.

You also need to check there is power to the valve when the key is on.
