Take the battery and the alternator to your nearest NAPA, Shucks, or Billy-Jo-Bob's part outlet store. Have them test both - usually free. Then you will know. It has to be one or the other, I'm leaning toward battery based on your description. If it made a "Clack!" every time you turned the key, then I'd say it's the alternator...
Your other choice is to wait until it totally craps out, then you'll know.

okay guys... i need some help.
car idles around 300 - 400 and is jerky sometimes... other times, it idles fine. now i just got back from ordering a pizza and when i left i had to keep turning the key to get the altenator to turn over. got home, shut if off and turned it back on.... only hd to turn it once, but had to hold it there for about 8 seconds before it started.... please tell me it might just be the battery... although i thought if it was the battery i'd hear a clicking or something... i hear nothing.... or maybe it's the altenator that's supposed to click when it's going... someone help! low idle is really starting to bother me too... this car worked perfect when i bought it a month ago!!!!
