would there be any reason to do this. have no way of knowing of these codes you guys speak of. if i went to a dyno would it help to tune my car or is this primarly for turbo cars

If you've corrected any condition which would set the CEL, then resetting the ECU would be a good idea.
The test connectors and codes are the same for all OBDI Legacys. Did you try this?
Proper tuning optimises power and efficiency for any engine, if you have the means to adjust operating parameters. If you're running the stock ECU, the operating parameters are set and can't be adjusted.

i have never seen the check engine light come on. i think the bulb maybe be bad? and no i havent tried it didnt know how to do it. also yes i have yhe stock ECU. i guess i would need a piggy back or PP6
