my car has 248,000 mi. on it
i wanna rebuild the heads on it for some more power ( i can't afford DOHC and building the block the right way). I was thinking P&P, delta cams (for more top end pull) and a valve job. can someone give me some info on the valve job, and i'm also looking for info on some stiffer valve springs, where would be a good place to look for these.
anything helps
thanks

I'm confused.
How can you afford to rebuild the heads AND buy Delta cams yet you can't afford DOHC heads? You can get DOHC heads from $175-250. Those Delta cams will cost you that much alone.
I think they wanted $500 for 4 cams for my DOHC heads so probably half that for 2.

You also need an intake manifold, coolant tank, water/fuel/pcv lines, etc. Usually we accomany a DOHC conversion with another turbo and an intercooler, so I don't know if you can use a VF11 and the stock chargepipe with the DOHC intake manifold. I stilll think that with careful shopping a DOHC conversion might be cheaper, especially if your porting the SOHC heads.kimokalihi wrote:........... You can get DOHC heads from $175-250. ............
Then again with some carefull shopping you can (eventually) probably find some used SOHC heads alreay set up the way you would build them.

I can afford the DOHC heads but can't afford all of the other stuff that would need to be done to the block to make them properly work and keep my compression ratio up and clearance between the pistons and heads. With the DOHC heads i would need new pistons, have my block bored out for the new pistons, and besides I can't be without my car for that long. I like the SOHC low end torque and with the cams i should be able to get some more top end torque.
