04 wrx fuel pump plug and play?

Post by ericem »

Hey, just want to verify what is plug and play. Do I need to modify wiring? I am annoyed with my fuel pump. I figure a OEM pump should be perfectly quiet.

Any reason you're not going with the walbro pump?

I think I have a walbro pump. When I asked my dealer for records on my car. They said the fuel pump was replaced, and the IAC. I find it suspicous a new fuel pump would be loud enough to hear it buzzing at idle. Supposedly walbro pumps are a bit louder. i am thinking these parts were replaced because the idle sometimes like to go up, as close to 900-1000rpm's. Other times it is nice and settled at 500 or is it 750 between the 0 and the 1k mark? What is really weird is how if I switch the A/C on and off the idle seems to calm back to normal interesting, but if I keep blipping the throttle makes no difference. So maybe something is telling the ECU my A/C is on?! OT

Anyways....

Get a fuel pressure tester and test your fuel pressures before you replace your pump.

I figured it would be easier to just replace the pump than it would be to spend the money on a fuel pressure tester, then having to tie into the lines etc etc.

Any possible causes of a fuel pump that buzzes? It is not screatching like other fuel pumps I hear on youtube, just I hear the damn thing buzzing where as with my 93 legacy it makes no noise! Is there something that could be causing the buzzing like improper instalation or a bad fuel filter?

Something probably is telling your ECU that the AC is on. In my 98 chevy metro there's an electrical circuit board inside a box and it tells the ECU when the AC is on so it can adjust the idle and keep it from killing the engine when you turn the car on if the AC is on.

A sticky IAC can cause a hunting idle, also.
