I bought WRX rotors, pads and braces for my 93 legacy touring wagon
(turbo). The guy that sold them to me from the parts place told me
everything would fit. When I tried to put the braces on, the bolts
that go through the brace to the caliper were different, the new
braces had no threads on one end, did I get the wrong parts or did
the guy just not know what he was talking about. Do I need a new
bolt kit? I was told it was interchangable from other sources also,
but not from what I can see, let me know if you have some info.

Brakes,
What do you mean by braces?
There is the caliper portion......there is a bracket that the caliper
mounts to, and in which mounts to the car.
For the WRX calipers there are two sliding guide pins that the caliper
slides on.....hence free floating caliper.
The brackets for the WRX are different, it sounds like he didn't send
you the proper brackets.....or did not send you all the parts.

Brakes,
Yeah.....there are two pins that bolt on to the bracket, you need both
of them to hold on the caliper.

Brakes,
How does it hold the caliper in since there are no threads?

Brakes,
One of them can just slide and it will simply sit in place. The other
one is a longer one that has a thread in the end of it. This one
screws in and stops the other from sliding off. If you just look at
them, you will figure it out pretty quickly!

There is a bolt that hold the pin in, there is threads in the end of the pin.
I'll take some pictures tonight of the entire setup so you can see.

Brakes,
No. They will not work.
The brakes from each car (ie. WRX or legacy) will bolt up to pretty much any subie.......assuming you have the bracket, caliper from that specific car, and that your wheels will clear the caliper.
You can't mix-match brake pads from a WRX to a legacy, or caliper from a WRX to bracket from a legacy.
