The valve tap stopped as suddenly as it started. I'm, thinking that
maybe there was some gunk in the engine. Is it a good idea to flush
the engine?

The dripping water didn't look like condensate, so I checked the
bolts at the thermostat housing. They didn't seem completely tight.
Maybe the water was flowing from the thermostat housing, along the
oil pan, and down onto the cross member? The car is parked on a
slight hill. I'll see if the water leak stops.

I have two new problems.

When I'm turning left at very slow speeds (parking lot speed), I can
hear and feel a chatter/vibration (1-3 seconds) coming from the front
(sometimes). I feel it with the brakes on and brakes off (may be
worse with the brakes on). Any ideas?

How much of a pain is it to fix the blower system? Sometimes when I
turn on the vent or A/C the air doesn't come out of the vents (it
comes out of the floor or the defrost vents). Sometimes the fan
doesn't come on at all.

Thanks.

........does this only happen when steering is on full lock and turning, if so probably your CV joints are worn... are the protective boots in good condition...? check the other side by turning full lock the other direction and check for noise. If worn you will hear a grind or a clicking....

perhaps your blower relay is on the way out.....

It doesn't have to be on full lock. I did check the CV boots and they
look OK. I'll check full lock turning on both sides and see what it
sounds like.

I hate to have to guess with electrical stuff (because you can't
return the part once you purchased it). Do you know how I can check
it before I go out an buy a new one?

Thanks

You think I need to replace one or both of the front axles (I only
have front wheel drive)?

Impossible to tell without looking at it and driving around. Chances are just one driveshaft. You need to keep an eye out on the cv gaitor/boot that goes around the cv joint.

how do the ball joint and the driveshaft have anything in common.... do you mean the CV joint...?
if ball joint is worn it wouldn't make any difference whether the steering is turning or not....
cheers, rod

I guess as long as it doesn't have a catastrophic failure without
more severe symptoms I can just watch the CV boots and see if it gets
worse, thanks.
