NA block in place of turbo block in my SS.

Post by biggreen96 »

I bought a SS to build into a rally car for $500, and sold the closed deck block to a bloke in England for $300. I did this to finance an NA 2.5 motor to meet class rules... well the race changed and now I can use turbo again! :( wish I still had that F*$&$ block!

I have an extra NA ej22 motor and EVERYTHING else but the block halves from the turbo engine that was in the SS. So I'm going to put the open block halves in place of the closed turbo block halves. UNLESS you guys don't think it will hold running wide open (it's going in the rally car).

I have a feeling it will. I want to slap a td04 and run at wastegate pressure. Stock everything else. Perhaps a walbro if recommended.

So Doug, Matt, and any body else who has done this please chime in with your experiences/recommendations.

Never done it, but I'm sure it will be fine.

I knew you have been using (and dragging) that combo, just haven't seen any news about it lately. It's still going then?

Change the pistons for a lower compression ratio and it should be fine.
