Another Motor build contemplation

Post by subytech »

Well I have a 2007 2.5l STi short block with broken ring lands on #2 & #3, I really dont want to mess with AVCS so what would be best afordable heads for the motor? I dont have a ton of money but I will be putting in some stock oversized pistons at least, maby forged. I'll also be running a td04 maby upgrading later. I also dont want to mess with standalone engine management yet, don't have the time or money. So basicly I want to build a cheep 2.5l turbo that is fun and i can drive everyday while i'm building the original 2.2. Not to worried about ultimate hp. If i could keep up with an STi would be great but not necicary.

Find a set of EJ20G or EJ20K heads. Add a EJ20G intake manifold and follow one of the EJ20G swap write-ups. Use the stock EJ22T ECU while you wait for the Revtronix user programmable chip.

Relatively cheap, and downright easy as far as swaps go.
