DOHC guru help.

Post by Weazel240 »

EJ22T SOHC -> Phase 1 DOHC conversion.

I know this has been covered. the reason why im askin is because i have not found out an answer on my searches.

DOHC will come from a usdm 2.5 forester.
Im not interested in doin a ej20g dohc or a usdm wrx dohc.

When doin a dohc swap ill need the head itself and the same intake mani from the dohc.

Will i need to do any electrical work? or is all this unbolt ej22t intake mani, and head and bolt up the DOHC, and dohc Intake mani?
thanks

There shouldn't be any wiring to speak of.

Even though you're not interested in a 20g head swap, you should be interested in the threads regarding them...it's pretty much the same job as an EJ25 head swap. ;)

While I am far from finished with the DOHC thread, I do have pretty good coverage of using the EJ25D intake manifold.

Basically, use your EJ22T IAC and intake up to the turbo. use your EJ22T intake manifold harness to make it plug and play. Your on your own as far as PCV and vaccuum lines. You will have to use the EJ25D fuel rails and most likely USDM STI injectors. I haven't tested if the EJ22T fuel pressure regulator will work, but the EJ25D one should be OK if the base fuel pressure is close.

Check out the listed thread, lost of pics of your exact proposed setup. Minus the slight difference in heads, of course.

I did have to buzz off that one nub that hits the coolant temp sensor like you mentioned in your thread. Not a big deal, but might scare some people away.
