I'm going to order a new igniter to see if it takes care of my coldstart/nostart issue. There is about a 30-40$ difference between the AT and MT igniter. From what I can see the unit itself is the same, and the only difference is the type of mounting bracket used, and if it's anything like the ICM on my RMS was, that can be swapped.
Superceeded part # s are not the same between MT AND AT. 22436AA010 is the Turbo and N/A AT igniter and 22438aa04a is the manual trans igniter.
So can either unit be used in place of one another if brackets were not concerned? Saving $40 is worth it if that's the case Thanks
Reviewing the ECU wiring diagrams, the MT and AT share the same wire map so there's no difference there. I don't know why there'd be a problem. Stolen from Josh's site:
cool beans. I ended up ordering the MT one because it was $32 cheaper. I'm not sure why a bracket would cost $32 More, but swapping brackets (heat sinks) is no big deal for me.
I find it interesting AC Delco makes one, so we'll see how it holds up. I mainly wanted to trouble shoot to see if igniter was cause of no start issue, but a friend can't find any good shape Igniters on parts cars. It's either this or the camshaft sensor, but the extremely rich on heavy throttle and the non-start condtion has me convinced (and per my other thread) that it's probably the igniter..
Got the igniter today. Had a delay in shipping, but rock auto came through. Igniter working good so far. We'll find out if that's the no start issue. The manual trans unit is slightly smaller so the AT bracket won't work, but you just turn the whole unit 90* and it bolts up to the same holes...
