So, I wanted to lay out my plans thus far, ask a few questions, and gather some input. I am still a fair ways out on all of this and admittably have a bit of searching to do. So I want to preface my questions with the understanding I'm not looking for hightly in depth answers - though if you want to do so, feel free

Engine modifications
- 3" TBE, bellmouth downpipe
- MBC at about 11-12psi
- Meth/water injection
--- just a simple single stage setup
- Turbo heat wrap
- Grp N mounts
Drivetrain modifications
- 5mt
- short ratio STi gearset 1-4, final 3.90 ratio
- Modena front LSD
- lightweight fly, 12lb
- Grp N mounts
- Clutch is stock Excedy unit, rumored to be good to around 310 ft-lb at the crank. This will be a firm limit to my power generation as I will not be changing this clutch anytime soon.
So, here's the current list of items I'm looking at doing.
- TD05H turbo @ 16-18 psi
--- ceramic coated? I do have a very nice heat blanket already
- Ceramic coated headers and up-pipe
- 550 cc/min injectors
- Walbro fuel pump
- Management of some sort, Revtronics, SAFC, PP6?
--- I have no desire to wire in a standalone, zero desire
- Upgrade the meth inject kit (I still intend to use this system for cooling and raising the octane levels, not for strict fueling requirements)
--- pressure gauge
--- flow gauge
--- fault out system incase of failure
------ this will work really well with the Revtronics system that has two modes
- Add additional system sensors
--- Zeitronics wideband, I reall like the logging capabilities
--- Additional knock sensor
--- EGT, and could tie into the the Zeitronics
--- Oil pressure
- Heat wrapping on all the coolant lines running through the engine bay. I am wanting to keep my underhood and intake temps as low as possible.
- True CAI routed down into the fender well.
--- may require removal of ABS, but I don't use it anyways
- Delta cams, street grind
- Port and polish of the 22T heads?
--- I want to keep 22T heads for many reasons. This is not really a very negotiable items.
- Phenolic spacers for the intake manifold
- MSD ignition?
--- A stronger spark would be nice.
--- 2-step capability could be really fun
I want to have a engine that is going to be very reliable and very safe. I do drive the car in many different conditions and many are very incondusive to having a motor let go and leave me stranded. I also want the car to be in a configuration that will last me a long time. I'm hoping my build represents these idologies.
So, my questions -
- Where is the best place to put my EGT. I'm looking at only have a single gauge, though I guess I could do two. It's a monetary issue...
- Where is the best place to place my oil pressure gauge?
- Where is the best place to put the Wideband?
--- Currently I'm thinking in the stock O2 location and move the stock sensor down where my WRX DP has a plug.
- How inefficient is the TD05H in terms of heat generation?
--- I know many people run FMIC and TMIC but with a large compressor wheel I would think it is more efficient than the VF11 and would be able to push more pressure with a lower raise in air temp. I'm asking to try and figure out how critical my water/meth injection system will be.
- Is an aluminum radiator going to be worth the cost and should I add this into my list?
--- If so, did the Koyo problems ever get worked out?
Are there any other suggestions or comments? I am still several months out before I really begin my build so I've got plenty of time to do more searching and more planning. But I wanted to verify that I am on the right path and see if there was anything significant I've been missing.
