Oxygen sensor - help!

Hi
Intermittent code 32 - changed o2 sensor- cleared ECU- still get the
same, intermittent, 'check engine' light and code 32 again. What else
can it be? I used a OE sensor and it was identical in all aspects to
the one removed. Any ideas will be very welcome, has onyone had a
similar prob? Car is my94 2L estate not turbo.

Could be a wiring issue. I'd suggest getting a service manual so you
have some info as to what the readings from the sensor should be, and or
the wiring harness. It might tell you whether the sensor is bad or
there is a short.

How does the car run otherwise for having the code?

Clean and inspect the plug. I have a turbo and I always get that code. I have just learnt to ignor it as the car runs fine. Uses a little more fuel, but can’t see the harm in that. Will fix soon though.

New sensor fitted and still the same code is there. Whare can I get
teh wiring diagram and specs from/ I have not been able to get a
manual!
The car runs fine and i can put the light out by changing speed. It
only comes on when the throttle does not move for a time- for example
when on the mway or a dual track.

Oxygen sensor - help!

Just done 300 miles down motorway on and off all the way but still
getting 34ish to the gallon. I don't think it is the sensor or the
wireing. I have not changed the fuel filter since i have had the car.
(3 years) and it seems worse when the tank is full. ( On lots with a
full tank not a lot with the tank half emmpty or less -filled up and
it came on again.) Could be a red herring but I am running out of
ideas. Does anyone know what the ECU core realy means -can it not
find the sensor or is the sensor out of range - how can i check?

replacin the fuel filter is worth a shot......it's cheap and easy to replace.

What do you mean ECU core?

You can hook up a digital voltmeter to the sensor and see what its output is, if it's within spec then there is something else wrong some where.

Have you checked the codes....is there anything else in there other then the O2 sensor?

Sorry that should read ECU code. What i would like to know is what
signals the ECU looks for. If it expects a pulsing signal and gets
eratic pulses, for some reason, would this confuse it? I intend to
hook up to an osciloscope but don't think it will help as the light
never comes on when the car is not moving and, so far, never in town.
No other codes are present on the ECU.
