Stick on WRX hood scoop?

Post by 91White-T »

Some of you looking for more airlfow might want to consider this scoop. It was under 50$ shipped, and works pretty good. You have to cut out the front of it since its supposed to be fake, but its just ABS plastic so thats not a problem. Installation is cake, literally two steps, remove stock scoop, put this one on so it covers the hole. Done. If you care about looks you should probably get it painted, but I just wanted the airlflow.

IIRC, Kelly modified his stock scoop, and the part he "molded" on there flew off at high speed. Just something to consider

I'm not worried, I had this same style scoop on my old turbo, and it was still on the hood when I junked it two years later. It also survived several 120+ runs

Hey guys I am thinking I will get the type of scoop but I think I prefer this look but might remove the mesh or paint the mesh black.

ebay link

I am thinking about this mainly because when it starts snowing I am worried about snow filling up the engine bay. I might just use some rubber and layer it up to act as a gasket with the stock scoop. So atleast the snow will just stack up on the IC instead.

I don't think you'll have a problem with nsow. I've daily driven my STI through two winters. It has a massive scoop. The heat from the engine is more than enough to keep the snow out.

I'd just remove the mesh. And don't worry about the snow getting in there. If snow gets in, the heat of the engine bay will melt it which would make it no worse than if you were driving in the rain, which just about everybody has done.

You are. I parked outside during a huge downfall last year for two days. Started it up around midnight of the second day and went to do some doughnuts and flat spins. Hahaha.
