Guys w/ WB o2's, ever see rich open loop during cruise?

Post by biggreen96 »

Driving to Seattle a few months ago I noticed my AF ratio going to the mid 13's during flat ground, nothing special cruise. Happened a few times, I kicked the throttle and it went away for a few days. Then I didn't drive for almost 2 months after back surgery...

Now it's aways at low 13's at low load cruise, an AFR I usually only see at moderate accelerations.

I think I'm watching my coolant temp sensor slowly die. Thoughts?

Nope, I dont see the 13 AFR range at all really. While the engine/o2 sensor is cold, its often in the 11-12 afr range. *sometimes* during very light throttle acceleration, it'll blip into the 13 range... but not during cruise.

So you always see the bouncing around stoich then at cruise?

The car doesn't run badly, WOT is still awesome and I really haven't seen my mileage go to hell like some people describe...

What do you see at WOT with your setup?

Can you monitor your stock o2 sensor?

Correct, 14-15 AFR is what my LC-1 gauge shows. Haven't data logged it a bit though.

heh well since the ECU still has some serious ongoing learning issues... depending if the ECU is in safe mode which then enables "safe mode rich AFR" and I see 9-10 AFR. If the ECU isn't in safe mode, then I see 10-11 AFR -- depending on rpm range/gear. the "target" AFR for the chip is 11.5. I WAS able to get this pretty much perfectly when I had this same set up in the TW...

I have my wideband output an artificial narrowband and that's what the ecu is seeing.

Yeah, the stock ECU has to see a narrow band output, so a lot of the widebands have that option. Does work good.
