Head Light Problems

I have a 92 legacy SS and my passenger side headlight is dim compared to the driver side. I changed the bulbs in them to realize it wasn't the problem. I also don't have high beams either. What can be the problem? bad ground? resistor or something? a link or advise would be appreciated!

Subaru uses a switched ground system. I would check that you have full voltage at the connector.

are u talking about the connector that plugs into the bulb?

Have a look through the lens at the reflector(with the lights off), and see if the reflector looks good. They can deteriate if water has got in there.

Apart from that check the power is to the lights at full voltage and then try earthing the bulb's filiment manualy with a wire while the light is going. If it gets brighter when you put the extra earth to it, the wiring or switch is faulty.

check ur fuses in the engine bay too. if the wrong wire is hooked up to the light or there crisscrossed they will still work but 1 will be brighter than the other. the way mine is wired right now my lights are brighter than stock but not as bright as highbeams and i have not had any problems

ok i'll do a process of elimination from what all of u have told me! thanx and i'll see which one fixed it

ok so i found the problem but then it creates another problem. i checked my fuses under the hood and found that fuse 15a, (refer to photo), blows when i put on the high beams. driver side light looks like the passenger side now dim but i see it as normal. so high beams go on and fuse blows. what do i do now?

you got a short somewhere. a wire could be grounded, your bulbs could be to high of wattage but more than likely there is a power wire grounding or two wires touching.

but, it could also have something to do with your blinkers.

it's 3 wires going to the headlights on the u.s cars right?

those plastic connectors can melt. check if they are oem, if not whoever wired in the new ones could have gotton mixed up. take those connectors off the headlight and inspect them. trace all your wires back as far as you can. check both sides

ok i'll try that next. like u said i think its wires touching somewhere or something is grounding out!
